Your Complete Guide to Group Courses with The Animation Tutor

If you're navigating the world of our group classes and need some clarity, this blog post is here to guide you through the process. We understand that choosing the right class might be a tough decision with Video Course Membership, Group Courses, and Interactive Courses as your options. Here, we'll delve into how our Group Courses work to help you make an informed choice.

Understanding Group Courses

Group Courses offer a structured learning experience with a bit less feedback time compared to our Interactive version. In Group classes, you'll receive 15 minutes of recorded video feedback per week, whereas Interactive sessions provide a more immersive 1-hour live Zoom session each week. Another distinction is that Group class schedules are fixed once the course starts, while Interactive course feedback sessions can be booked on our calendar week by week or all at once, with flexibility for rescheduling.

Getting Started

To embark on your animation journey in a Group Course, the first step is to check our Group Course Start Date Schedule. This will help you identify upcoming courses that align with your interests. In case the class you're eager to join isn't scheduled soon, you have two options. You can express your interest by signing up for the waitlist to get notified, if there's enough demand, we occasionally run classes outside our usual seasonal dates. Alternatively, you can opt for the Interactive version of the class, which is available at any time and offers one-on-one instruction with The Animation Tutor.

What to Expect

Upon enrolment in a Group Course, The Animation Tutor will send you crucial information about the class. Keep an eye out for these essential elements:

  1. Course Portal: This is where you'll find all the weekly lectures and homework assignments

  2. Google Drive Link: You'll use this link to submit your artwork each week

  3. Submission Deadline: Typically, homework is due on Wednesdays by midnight

  4. Recommended Tools or Textbooks: Note that not all courses come with recommendations

With this information in hand, you'll be well-prepared to dive into your class.

The Learning Journey

You can start Week 1 of your course as soon as you receive the course portal link in the welcome email. However, please note that the first feedback review session won't occur until one week after the official course start date (refer to the schedule for this date). The course start date essentially sets the enrollment deadline without falling behind.

To ensure your homework gets reviewed, submit it by the designated deadline, and The Animation Tutor will provide feedback within two days of the submission time (e.g., Wednesday at midnight submission means feedback by end of day Friday). Missing this deadline means your homework won't be reviewed. If your schedule is unpredictable, consider enrolling in the Interactive version of the class, tailored for such scenarios.

Once your homework video is uploaded to the same Google Drive folder for the week, you can watch the review video to gain insights into your work. Then, it's on to Week 2's video lecture, followed by the homework, and so on, until you successfully complete the course.
